Hello! It’s been a while from the last time
I posted here! I think it was almost three months now. J
Have you ever known of a beauty product
having petroleum jelly as a component? Maybe, you are not just aware of it. I
was even confused how a colourless and odourless jelly would be a help or even
a component for cosmetic formula. Here, read some facts about it.
1.
It is used in many skin lotions
and moisturizers.
2.
It used as a cuticle softener
ingredient.
3.
Lip balms and other lip
moisturizers have it, even lipstick.
4.
Can be used as hair relaxer.
5.
Ingredients to some sun block
and ultra violet ray lotions
6.
Can be used as make up remover
(like do’s in eye such as mascara, eye-liner and more)
According to my source, “Petrolatum/petroleum
jelly is made up of solid mineral waxes and liquid mineral oils. The amount of
wax and oil in different blends of petrolatum/petroleum jelly varies. Those
with higher levels of wax will be harder and have a higher melting point while
those with more oil will be softer and with a lower melting point. These
differences need to be taken into account when petroleum jelly is used in
cosmetic formulations, e.g. softer petrolatum/petroleum jelly could be used in
a skin cream while a harder petrolatum/petroleum jelly might be used in a lip
balm.”
Aside from that, most health spas use
petroleum jelly as a ‘secret potion’ in their facial treatment. It can also be
used to shine a leather shoes as well as prevent metal rust.
J Now, after using petroleum jelly for a month to moisturize my lips,
I found that it is really effective.
Til next post! Hope you enjoy reading.
